Ways to Enjoy Hawaiian Flowers
There is always enjoyment whether sending or receiving beautiful Hawaiian flowers. Here you can see the many types of remarkable blooms. Though they eventually die and wither away tropicals last longer than roses or other flowers. With a little imagination and careful planning, however, you can create a stunning display to be cherished for a week or more. The arrangement should have balance. Loose Orchid Blooms
Orchids are a Hawaiian favorite. They are used as cut sprays for flower displays, The loose blossoms or heads can be removed from the stem. Once removed you can use them for lei making. The same flowers used to make fresh leis can be used for party decorations. Place the orchid blooms carefully on the rims of drinks. You can also garnish plates or serving trays. Loose orchid blossoms can be tucked onto the icing of a cake, especially a wedding cake. If you have several hundred flowers you can create a path for the bride or guest of honor.
Make Scented Potpourri
Although the flowers themselves may not last, it's possible to capture and enjoy their scent for a long time by creating potpourri from the petals. Dry out the flowers either using the previously mentioned microwave method or arranging them on a cookie sheet and placing in the oven at a low temperature until all the moisture evaporates from the petals.
Once dry, gently squeeze the petals to release the oils they contain. Place in an air tight jar and let sit for at least two weeks to let the scent build up. To enhance the flowers' scent, add a few drops of oil to the jar before sealing it. After two weeks, place the dried flowers in a decorative bowl and let their aroma fill the home.
